Ready to Bloom?

We’ve all seen this sign.  Perhaps instead you’ve seen “Bloom Where You Are Planted”.  I like the first version better, because God has a design for our lives, and He definitely planted me beside my husband and back on the farm.  Forty years ago, that was definitely not where I wanted to be.  But I’ve come to realize over many years that He knew exactly where to plant me.

Patience…

As the rain comes to heal this land, and it has been coming slowly and surely, I’m trying to restructure my garden.  Too many things were let go last year during the drought and the task is monumental.  What a good reminder not to pause in our efforts, especially in building our Faith.  In the Bible, time and time again, the Father made promises to His people, but they had to wait years or even decades.  The result of their patience was blessing.

God’s Garden

I continually pray for God’s healing rain, and not patiently I’m afraid.  Watching the grass come back and knowing the cows will have Summer forage makes my heart sing.  My feeble efforts in the garden pale next to what God shows me every day in His pastures.  “He maketh me lie down in green pastures…”

Here is a small sample of what God has planted in Western Kansas.  We don’t see all of these every year, but the rain once again shows me what His wondrous moisture will do to this landscape.

Delight and Trust in Him

Part of blooming where He plants us is remembering the source of the promise.  Psalm 37:4-5 states “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”  God knew our circumstance with the drought.  He knew how long it would last, and when the next one will begin.  It is Western Kansas after all.  In all my asking, did I remember to take delight in God?  Did I commit my way and trust in Him?  I can do much better.

  1. Thank you so much for the beautiful inspiration! Not only the words and thoughts but the beautiful pictures!

  2. The wild flowers are so beautiful! Some I have not seen before. I have read that some seeds will stay dormant for years until the right conditions exist for them to germinate. How beautiful that in their own season, they are blooming. Another gentle message from God to His people. ❤️

    1. There is nothing more beautiful than the wildflowers in the pastures after we’ve had some Spring rains. They are truly unique.
